Our high-quality, free simulation was tested in a 12th-grade class at a German high school. It is designed for the preparation, execution, and review of the teacher-led experiment „Electron Beam in Crossed Fields,“ transforming it into a student-led experiment.
All students can use it on a tablet, PC, or smartphone. The simulation also includes downloadable worksheets (tasks and solutions) and didactic instructions, which were kindly co-developed by the Duden Schoolbook Publisher. This material can be accessed via the „More“ button within the simulation.

Explanations for the Simulation „Electron Beam in Crossed Fields“
With this unique teaching tool, the BIGS simulation experiment on the „Electron Beam,“ you gain extensive knowledge about the properties of electrons in crossed fields, whether in an electric or magnetic field. (See related topics: deflection tube, Braun tube, and the movement of charge carriers in E- and B-fields.) You can precisely determine the specific charge of an electron yourself using the BIGS simulation experiment on your PC or laptop. Reference: In collaboration with the Duden Schoolbook Publisher, a complete teaching resource was developed for a lesson unit of approximately six hours on the topic „Electron Beam in Crossed Fields.“ The publisher provided both open and guided assignments for students, as well as teaching instructions for educators. This lesson unit was successfully tested at the Giebichenstein Gymnasium „Thomas Müntzer“ in the city of Halle (Saale). The images shown below are taken from the teaching materials for educators, created during this collaboration.
