Explanations of the Topic „Proton Spin – Clockwise Rotation“
Protons, as positively charged particles, perform an intrinsic rotation within the atomic nucleus, which gives them an angular momentum, also called spin. This motion of a charge generates a corresponding magnetic field around the proton. When the spin is clockwise, the north pole is at the top and the south pole is at the bottom. This fact becomes particularly significant when an external magnetic field is applied. (See our animation „Proton Spin in a Magnetic Field.“)
(Please note that this is not a purely quantum-physical explanation.)
